Lawrence J. “Bucky” Terwilliger. passed away at Valley View Nursing Home in Goshen on January 19, 2016. He was 73 years old. Bucky was born in Walden, NY on December 18, 1942 to the late James K. and Susan Austin Terwilliger. Bucky was a professional truck driver for many years working for Abbott and Mills in Newburgh. He was a member of the Colonel Bradley Hose company in Walden and the Walden V.F.W. Post 2946. Bucky was also assistant scout master for Boy Scout Troop 31 in Walden as well as a avid hunter. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by; wife, Catherine D. Tripp Terwilliger at home; son Lawrence J. “Bucky” II of Walden, daughters, Renee Pereira and husband Phillip of Walden and Darleen Gallagher and her husband Fred of Georgia; sisters Carol Jardon and husband Joe of Wurtsboro and Ruby Farmingham and husband Gil of Wisconsin . He also leaves behind his grandson Norman “Tony” O’Dell of Walden and other grandchildren; five great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and his brother Gary Tompkins. The family would like to thank the entire staff at Valley View Nursing home for their dedication, commitment and love provided to Bucky throughout his stay. Visitation will be held on Friday January 22, 2016 from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 7:30 pm at the Gridley-Horan Funeral Home, Inc. 39 Orchard St. Walden, NY 12586. Services will begin at 7:30 pm at the funeral home with the Reverend James VanHouten officiating. Cremation will follow at Cedar Hill Crematory. Internment of ashes will take place at the convenience of the family at the Orange County Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Alzheimer’s association or the charity of ones choice.
