Irene Marone , a homemaker of Walden, passed away on Monday,
March 7, 2016 at Elant at Newburgh. The daughter of the late Emanuel and Sarah “May” Macy Stegman, she was born on May 14, 1923 in New York City, NY. She was 92 years old. She was the widow of the late S. John Marone, who was former athletic director and dean of students at Valley Central High School.
Irene attended New York University. For 28 years she and her companion, Don delivered meals on wheels. She also taught sewing to many children.
Survivors are her longtime companion, Donald R. Wood of Walden; daughter, Jane Anne Marone-Collins and her husband, Kevin of Staten Island; NY, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sisters, Ruth Murphy and Harriet Horowitz and brothers, Nathaniel “Tanny” Stegman and Tobias “Toby” Stegman.
Graveside services and burial will be held at 1 PM on Monday, March 28th at the Wallkill Valley Cemetery, Walden, NY.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Josephine-Louise Library, Walden, NY
