Obituary of Alfred M. Mangano

Alfred M. Mangano of Chester, NY passed away at home on Monday, October 22, 2018. The son of the late Veto and Mary Pennisi Mangano, he was born on June 19, 1948 in Goshen, NY. He was 70 years old. He was a communicant of St. Columba R.C. Church, Chester and an alumnus of SUNY Morrisville. Alfred’s love for family and family gatherings, especially during the holidays, was an important part of his life. He was a superb cook who kept many family traditions alive. His home is a testament to his love of antiquing and the welcoming feeling one had in his presence. He will be missed by all who knew him. Alfred is survived by his wife, Barbara Bergstrom Mangano at home; son, Philip Mangano of Chester; brother, Victor Mangano of Chester; sister, Lenore Quinones and her husband, Robert of Dade City, FL; nephews, Todd Meyer of Hamptonburgh and Kyle Meyer of Newburgh; an aunt and many cousins. A visitation will be held from 2-4 & 7-9 pm on Thursday, October 25th at the Gridley-Horan Funeral Home, 39 Orchard St., Walden, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Friday, October 26th at St. Columba R.C. Church, Chester, NY. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery, Chester. Memorial contributions may be made to an animal shelter of one’s choice.
