Stephen D. Holsapple of Hudson, NY formerly of Newburgh, passed away on Sunday, January 1, 2017 at the Vermont Veterans’ Home, Bennington, VT. The son of the late Allie and Hazel Thomas Holsapple, he was born on June 28, 1928 in Rhinecliff, NY. He was 88 years old. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and the widower of the late Louise Quick Holsapple. Stephen is survived by his daughter, Dawn Holsapple and her husband, John Mokszycki; stepson , Louis Miller and his wife, Anita(Stuart); grandchildren: Stephen, Robert, and Matthew Mokszycki, Leah Miller O’Brien and Leslie Miller Geronimo; great grandchildren, Makenzie and Savannah Mokszycki, Joel O’Brien, Lillian Geronimo and many nieces and nephews. Along with his wife, Louise, he was predeceased by sisters, Myrtle Mullaney, Pearl Hunt, Ellanor Phillips, Olive VanLeuven and brothers, William and Robert. A visitation will be held from 1-3 PM on Sunday January 8th at the Gridley-Horan Funeral Home, 39 Orchard St., Walden, NY. Funeral services will be held at 3 PM following the visitation. Cremains will be buried in the Wallkill Valley Cemetery, Walden. In lieu of flowers contributions in memory of Stephen, a veteran of the Korean war, may be made to VVHDA – Members Assistance Fund, c/o Darlene Eriksen, Vermont Veterans’ Home 325 North Street, Bennington, VT 05201. The funds go directly to veterans in the home to purchase clothing, dentures, glasses, etc.
