Janice H Legere Obituary

Janice Helene Legere, 94 passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus on July 19,

2024 at the Middletown Park and Rehabilitation Health Care Center. She was the

loving daughter of Helen Hahnefeld and William F. Toothill. She was born at her

childhood home in Walden NY on March 21,1930.

On November 4,1948 she married Joseph E. Legere at Most Precious Blood

Church in Walden, NY. They celebrated 57 years of marriage before he

predeceased her on January 7, 2005.

She graduated with honors from Walden High School and attended Flower Fifth

Avenue School of Nursing.

She was the loving and devoted mother to her six children. As her children grew

she became a paraprofessional and worked in the nursing and clerical

departments of the Walden Elementary School until her retirement. Many will

remember her as their local Avon Representative which she enjoyed doing for

many years. Christmas celebrations were not complete without the Avon ornament

or gift.

She enjoyed working with children as a Cub Scout and 4-H leader. In her

retirement she was an active member the Maybrook Golden Links serving as their

past treasurer. She loved the sweet friendships she made there and will be missed

by all.

She is survived by her daughters, Cheryl A Carr, husband Peter E., Michele S.

Valenti, Cindee A. Pascal, husband Stephen, Lisa M. Mistretta, and son Edmond

J. Legere, wife Diana. She leaves 13 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and

one great great grandchild.

She was predeceased by her brother, William Bruno Toothill, her sister, Brenda

Lillian Dougherty and her son Richard Alan Legere.

She enjoyed a blessed and full life. “Well done good and faithful servant”. Matthew

25:23

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Town of Montgomery

Food Pantry donations to your favorite charity can be made. Janice was a monthly

donor to Habitat for Humanity.

A memorial celebration of her life will be held at the Gridley-Horan Funeral Home 39 Orchard St. Walden, NY 12586.

on Friday September 13, 2024 10 AM to 12 Noon.

Services will be held at noon following the visitation.

Burial of Cremains will be held at St. Mary's Cemetery, Railroad Avenue, Montgomery, NY
