Alda A. O'Dell of Walden, NY passed away with her family by her side on May 20, 2024 at St. Luke's Hospital in Newburgh, NY. She was 80 yrs. old. She was born on September 15, 1943 in Cornwall, NY to the late Jennis Van Leuven and Aurelia Barley. She was married to Carl D. O'Dell Jr.. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. She was a member of the Orange County Volunteer Fireman's Association Ladies Auxiliary of the Walden Fire Department for many years.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Carl D. O'Dell Jr. at home; daughters, Shalda J. Conklin (Michael) of Walden, Clara A. Wilson (Dwain) of Walden; sons, Carl D. O'Dell III (Alicia) of Walden, Ronald E. O'Dell Sr. (Victoria) of Ferndale, NY, David A. O'Dell (Stephanie) of Walden; 18 Grandchildren; 36 Great Grandchildren; 2 Great Great Grandchildren and 2 on the way; several nieces and nephews.

Alda was predeceased by her parents; granddaughter, Jennifer Williams; brothers, Delford, Floyd and Donald; sisters, Rosemary Spear, Patricia Stalter, Sharon Sgrizzi and Lunda Bezue.

Throughout the years she had a variety of interests including roller skating, bowling, bingo, penny socials, Pokeno, dancing and spending time with her family. She was famous for her pasta salad which was requested at every family gathering.

Memorial Contributions in Alda's name may be made to the St. Baldrick's Foundation.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday May 28, 2024 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Gridley-Horan Funeral Home, Inc. 39 Orchard St. Walden, NY 12586. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday May 29, 2024 at 10 AM at the Gridley-Horan Funeral Home. Burial to follow in the Wallkill Valley Cemetery, Rte 52 Walden, NY.
