Rita M. Griffith of Wallkill, NY passed away on Tuesday, December 12, 2023 at Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital, Newburgh, NY. The daughter of the late Gabriel and Emily Gallant Arsenault, she was born on July 20, 1938 in Carelton, Prince Edward Island, Canada. She was 85 years old. She was the widow of the late Arthur Griffith. Rita was the administrator of the after-school program at St. Andrews Episcopal Church. She was a member of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, the Auxiliary of the Modena Fire Dept., and the New Paltz Elks Club. Rita is survived by her daughters, Barbara Mamazza and her husband, Carmen, of Newburgh, and Tara Bevins of Modena; brothers: Fred and Jack Arsenault both of Canada; and sister, Elaine Dodd of Spring Valley; grandchildren, Dakota Hall, Riley Bevins, and Juliet Mamazza; and nieces and nephews. Along with her husband, Arthur Giffith, she was predeceased by her sister, Jean. Friends are invited to a gathering on Monday, December 18th at 7 pm in the Community Room at 189 Third St., Wallkill, NY. Cremation was at the Cedar Hill Crematory, Newburgh. Memorial contributions may be made to the Walden Humane Society, 2489 Abany Post Road, Walden, NY 12586.
