Edward F. Lekis of New Windsor, NY passed away on Thursday, November 23, 2023 at Garnet Health Care Hospital, Middletown, NY. The son of Frank and Rita DeStefano Lekis, he was born on March 21, 1945 in Brooklyn, NY. He was 78 years old. He was a Vice President for Commercial Loans for Sterling Bank, Middletown, NY. He was a member of the American Legion Post 1796, Newburgh, NY, a long- time board member of Access Support for Living, and an avid golfer and sports enthusiast.
Ed is survived by his wife, JoAnn Contarino Lekis, at home; daughter, Stefanie Filippini and her partner, Martin Moli of New Windsor; niece and nephew. He was predeceased by his sister, Kathleen Lekis.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 28th from 4-8 pm at the Gridley-Horan Funeral Home, 39 Orchard St., Walden, NY. A Funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 29th at 10 am at St. Columba R.C. Church, High Street, Chester, NY. Burial will be in the St. Columba Cemetery, Chester, NY. Memorial contributions may be made to a local animal shelter.
