Samuel DelSanto Jr. Obituary

Samuel DelSanto Jr. of Montgomery, NY, formerly of Maybrook, NY passed away peacefully at home home with his family by his side on January 4, 2026. He was 93 years old.


The son of the late Samuel DelSanto Sr. and Mary Mancuso DelSanto, he was born on March 13, 1932 in Poughkeepsie, NY.


Samuel graduated from the former Maybrook High School and then went on to serve in the U.S. Air Force. After serving his country, he met and married the love of his life Ruth Stantial also of Maybrook. They married at the Church of the Assumption and were happily married for 69 years.


Samuel retired as Sgt. from the Wallkill Correctional Facility in 1987. He also worked part-time for the Maybrook DPW. He was a lifetime member of the Engine Company #1 for over 60 years and also a member of the American Legion.


Samuel is survived by his loving wife Ruth DelSanto of Montgomery; son, David DelSanto (Kim Giangola) of Navarre, FL; daughters, Teri Ann Donovan (Al Vance) of Middletown and Christine Mills (Mike Deblanco) of Chester; five grandchildren; five great grandchildren; sisters, Margaret Thorp and Rosanne Kierney (James) of Maybrook; brother-in-law, Antonio Marano of Montgomery; several nieces and nephews.


He is predeceased by his brother-in-law Calvin Thorp of Maybrook.


Visitation will be held on Monday January 12, 2026 from 12-2 PM at the Gridley-Horan Funeral Home, Inc. 39 Orchard Street Walden, NY 12586 (845) 778-3811 gridleyhoran.com


Funeral Services will be held at 2PM at the funeral home following the visitation.


Burial will be held immediately following at St. Mary's Cemetery, Railroad Ave. Montgomery, NY.


In lieu of flowers memorial contribtutions may be made in Samuel's name to Hospice of Orange and Sullivan Counties, 800 Stony Brook Ct. Newburgh, NY 12550.
