Joy Cecilia Stafford (Sulkers), age 79 of Walden NY, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 9th, 2025.

She was the daughter of the late Robert and Marion Smith born in Newburgh, New York on November 19th, 1945.

Joy was married to the love of her life Joseph Stafford for over 50 years. Their love story was nothing short of what you'd see in movies. They'd been together since they were teenagers Together, they had five beautiful children.

One thing about Joy is that she was a hard working woman. She always did whatever had to be done for her family. She worked as a Registered Nurse for St. Luke's Hospital in Newburgh, NY for many years, and finished her career as a Manager at Crystal Run Village in Walden, NY, where she retired.

The most important thing to Joy was undoubtedly her family. Any free time she had was spent with those she cared about most. She was a mother to anybody who needed one, whether that meant her own children, her children's friends, her grandchildren, or even her grandchildren's friends. She will be greatly missed.

Joy is survived by her three daughters; Darlene Clemens (Skip) of Bloomingburg, Christine Stafford-Dino (Joe) of Cape Coral, FL, and Tabatha Rifflard (Frank) of Newburgh, 14 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, also her nieces and nephews.

Joy was predeceased by her husband; Joseph Stafford, daughter; Heather Stafford, son;

Joseph Stafford, her brothers; John Sulkers, Jeffrey Smith, Jimmy Sulkers, and sister; Judith Babb

Memorial Visitation will be held on Wednesday September 24, 2025 from 5-7 PM at the Gridley-Horan Funeral Home, Inc. 39 Orchard St. Walden, NY 12586

Services and Inurnment of both Joy and Joseph's ashes will be held on Thursday September 25, 2025 at 10 AM at the Orange County Veterans Cemetery 111 Craigville Rd. Goshen, NY 10940.
