Jean Scalfari of Walden passed away on August 1, 2025. She was 92 years old. Jean was born on January 30, 1933 in Sussex, New Jersey to the late William Bowen and Mary Robbins. She was the widow of Joseph Scalfari. And long time companion of Kenneth Coville. Jean attended Goshen high school and worked as a Seamstress in Walden for many years at Anthony’s coat factory. She will be missed by her family and friends. Survivors include her daughter, Dina Barnhart, and son-in-law, David Barnhart; Grandchildren, Joseph Sherman, Taylor Sherman, Nicholas Barnhart, and Stephenie Rodriguez, Scott Coville, Callista Martucci; Great-grandchildren, Hensley, Michael, Leon, Lainey, Caylee and Carlee. She was overjoyed to be expecting her first great-granddaughter of her lineage in January, a blessing that would have completed four loving generations.

Visitation will be held on August 16, 2025 from 10–12 noon at the Gridley Horan funeral home, Inc. 39 Orchard St., Walden, NY 12586. Burial and graveside services will be held following the visitation at the Wallkill Valley cemetery, route 52 Walden, NY 12586.
