Cecile M Jardine Obituary

Cecile M. Jardine, beloved wife, mother, and Gram, passed away at home, surrounded by family on July 10, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. Cecile was born in Maybrook, NY, on January 21, 1942, to Frank and Marie (Iorlano) Amodio. She is survived by her sister, Frances, and brother, Michael (and Linda). Cecile was pre-deceased by her husband of 61 years, John E. Jardine. John and Cecile were long-time sweethearts and together they created their family. Cecile was mother to John (and Diane), Steve, and Jacki (and Tom), and Gram to Hannah, Sarah, Emma, Anna, and Kristen. She was “Cece”, a loving aunt, to several nieces and nephews, and considered as Gram to many. She was also a lover of animals with her dogs Fluffy and Frankie, and several grand and great-grand fur babies. Cecile had various jobs throughout her life. She told stories of her days working at the Five and Dime. She spent time as Tax Collector for the Town of Montgomery. And her favorite may

have been as the cashier at the high school lunch line. She particularly liked being able to keep tabs on her own children and their friends during school hours. After this job, her own children stopped calling her mom, instead calling her “Ceil” like all the other kids. Cecile and John were successful with their business at Johnstons Toyota and used their prosperity to support several community organizations. But when reflecting back on her life, Cecile felt her greatest treasures were her children and grandchildren. When considering them, she said she “felt so much love coming out” of her. As “Lil Gram”, she was the kind of

grandmother that would go on rollercoasters, dance at concerts, never miss a performance or recital (and even be ready with a costume or prop!), and take selfies with “duck lips”. Her children and grandchildren adored her. Cecile lived simply without extravagance or fanfare, staying out of the limelight she so oftentimes deserved. In keeping with her wishes, Cecile’s final internment will be handled

privately by her family. You may commemorate her life with expressions of sympathy to the Humane Society of Walden or Sullivan County SPCA.

“You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace.” -Isaiah 55:12
