Elaine Mary Upright Obituary

Elaine Upright lit up every room she walked in to. She was full of laughter, love, and a spark that drew people in and made them feel alive. She was born on November 21, 1963 in Suffern, NY. She passed away on July 6th, 2025, and though the world feels dimmer without her, her light lives on in everyone lucky enough to have known her.

She was the proud owner of B&D Taxi, where she worked tirelessly and her tenacity truly shined. Elaine was known for her reliability, her sharp sense of humor, and her ability to show up for people without needing to be asked. Everywhere she went, she met people; striking up conversations, sharing a laugh, and leaving a lasting impression. Strangers didn't stay strangers around Elaine for long. She was the life of the party - bold, funny, unforgettable - and her energy made every gathering brighter. She loved to dance - with joy, with heart and like no one was watching. She was also a gym rat; in the best way - strong, dedicated, and always pushing herself. She didn't let anyone tell her she could not do something. If there was a challenge, she met it head-on with grit, pride, and that signature spark. Elaine adored animals and helped rescue and find homes for hundreds of dogs over the years, always believing every living thing deserved kindness and love. Her own dogs, Stumps and Smalls, were her constant companions - deeply loved and truly part of the family.

More than anything, Elaine lived for her children. Tiffany and Troy were her world. She would do anything for them - without hesitation or question. Her love was fierce, unconditional, and proud. She celebrated their triumphs, protected them with everything she had, and showed them what it meant to live with strength and compassion. Being their mother was her greatest joy and most cherished purpose.

She is survived by her loving children Tiffany Upright and son-in-law Robert Hudson of Walden, NY and Troy Upright of Newton, NJ as well as their father David Upright of Shohola, PA. Sister Linda Kayes of Wallkill, NY. Brother James McCloskey of Cornwall, NY. Brother Michael McCloskey who pre-deceased her. As well as many nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind countless friends who became family through years of laughter, loyalty, and love. The bonds she built with these friends were rooted in real love and unforgettable moments.

Elaine's life was one of passion, humor, and generosity. She gave fully, laughed loudly, danced freely, lifted heavy, and loved without holding back.
