Dora Reyes of Walden passed away peacefully on Friday, January 24th, surrounded by her loving family at the age of 93. Born on December 12, 1931, in Puerto Rico to the late Francisco Aponte and Josephine Reyes, Dora was a devoted daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Dora worked for many years as a Translator at Orange County Social Services, always lending her voice to help others—a talent she also showcased singing at the Puerto Rican theatre in the Bronx during her younger years. She was known for her selflessness, caring for her parents and brother Frank (Titin) until their passing, and always ensuring her sisters and family were well. She is survived by her sons, Chris Reyes and Gary Reyes and wife Sandi Reyes of Walden; grandchildren, Jacquelyn Reyes, Tonia Reyes, and Jason Reyes , wife Kellie Reyes; great-grandchildren, Ariana and Maya Reyes; sisters, Myriam Aponte, Jenny Vargas, and Josephine Roberts; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family who will miss her dearly. Dora was preceded in death by her husband Santiago (Sandy) Reyes, parents, and brothers Frank and Gilbert Aponte. Dora will be remembered for her loving spirit and gentle heart. Fly high, Dora, like the sparrow—may you shine like the sun and be held in the palm of His hand.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday January 29, 2025 from 10-1130 at the Gridley-Horan Funeral Home Inc. 39 Orchard St. Walden, NY 12586.

A funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday January 29, 2025 at 12 noon at Most Precious Blood Church 42 Walnut Street Walden, NY 12586.

Burial will follow in the Wallkill Valley Cemetery, Rt 52 Walden, NY 12586
