Erica Michelle Shorette (Appel), age 44, of Walden left us unexpectedly on Tuesday January 21, 2025. Erica was born February 18, 1980 in Bethpage NY. She is the Daughter of Ronald "Ronnie" Appel and Lynn (Simon) Appel. Erica earned her Master's Degree in Elementary Education with a focus in Special Education from Mount Saint Mary College. Erica was currently teaching at Maple Hill Elementary school in Middletown. More than anything, Erica was a devoted mother, daughter, sister and wife. She loved spending time with her Husband (Jarrod) and Daughter (Kinley) sharing stories, playing games, and watching their favorite TV shows. She loved her family and extended family dearly. A favorite past time was hanging at her in-laws house after school to catch up with whoever happened to be there that day. Erica also loved the beach and family pool days. Hanging by the pool in the warm sun and watching Kinley play with her Aunts, Uncles and Cousins was on her top "best days" list. She looked forward to their yearly family beach trip to Myrtle Beach with Jarrod, Kinley, her Mom, and in-laws. Many happy memories made there will be cherished for a lifetime. Erica is survived by her loving Husband Jarrod, Daughter Kinley, Father Ronald "Ronnie" (Mariela) Appel, Mother Lynn Appel, Sister Jessica Appel, Brother Magnus (Ruby) Appel, Great Grandmother Eileen Appel, Aunts Linda (Appel) Stratico (Stephen) and Jackie Appel Shapiro. In-laws Louis and Patricia Shorette. Sister-in-laws Monique Shorette (Angela), Brother-in-laws Eric Shorette (Krystal), Kyle Shorette (Megan), Nieces, Nephews and Cousins . Her memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by her Grandparents Jack and Anita Appel. A Celebration of life will be held Friday, January 31, 2025 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM & 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Goodwill Church, 2135 NY-208 Montgomery NY In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Kinley Shorette's custodial account at the Hudson Valley Federal Union.
